At-Home Gluten Response Test
An at-home gluten response test is a portable device that allows you to test foods for gluten. It combines a testing capsule with an iOS app that can record, share and analyze your tests.
It is important to at-home gluten response test celiac disease. Only a series of laboratory tests and, if positive, an intestinal biopsy can confirm a diagnosis. Additionally, interpreting test results can be difficult and the accuracy of at-home tests is limited. Typically, these tests are not covered by health insurance.
There are two main types of at-home tests: antibody tests and genetic tests. Antibody tests measure antibodies that are associated with celiac disease. Antibodies are part of the immune system and usually target foreign targets, like viruses or bacteria. However, in autoimmune conditions, such as celiac disease, antibodies can also target a person’s own healthy tissue. These are called autoantibodies.
Celiac Disease Testing Without a Biopsy: Is It Reliable?
Genetic tests can determine whether a person’s genes make them more likely to develop symptoms of celiac disease or to be responsive to gluten exposure. They can also provide valuable information about how people respond to a gluten-free diet, including their symptoms and quality of life.
EZ Gluten is an at-home food intolerance test that looks for gluten in stool or urine samples. Similar to a pregnancy test, the user applies a sample to one end of a plastic stick and waits for a result—a single blue line indicates no gluten was detected, while both a blue and red line mean that gluten was found.
